Jeremy Piven

entourage, Serendipity, Mr. Selfridge

One of the first actor-comedians I ever worked with was Jeremy Piven. We discussed capturing some live shots for his stand-up tour promo, as well as more candid, behind-the-scenes photos. It's not every day that someone places that kind of trust in a photographer early in a working relationship, but Jeremy was completely at ease with it. He let me photograph him in the green room, offstage, at restaurants—pretty much wherever we could get the shots we needed. It was a delicate balance of staying close enough to capture the moments while also being invisible, respecting his space as he prepped for shows. A boundary I self-imposed. We worked a few gigs together, and the results, both onstage and off, were only possible because Jeremy was so comfortable with me, no matter the setting.

It was a pleasure getting to know him throughout this project, both at the shows and over dinners. Jeremy is one of the hardest-working people I've met, with a keen sense of what makes for a great stand-up performance. And, of course, his iconic roles in TV and film over the years are a testament to his range and talent. Cheers to you, Jeremy!
